GREECE PELOPONNESE ARCADIA MANTINEIA AGIA FOTINI

Across the archaeological site of Mantineia on the other side of the street is the modern church of Agia Fotini. Constructed in 1970-73, it is the daring architectural combination of Minoan, Mycenaean, classical Greek, Byzantine and newer elements. The result is highly controversial, but in any case interesting. It poses the question if the rich tradition of architecture in Greece is a blessing or rather a curse and burden.
